Rep. Richmond Calls On Congress To Work

WASHINGTON - The House met briefly Tuesday in a pro-forma session, continuing to take no votes or consider legislation for a six-week period leading up to the Nov. 6 elections. The Senate is also not doing any legislative business, and the lack of pre-election activity has drawn protests from the Democratic minority in the House and Republican minority in the Senate.

Rep. Richmond Announces Recovery Funding

U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Representative Cedric Richmond, D-La., and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu yesterday announced $13.4 million in federal funding for hurricane recovery efforts at the Port of New Orleans and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO).
The grants are funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance Program.
