Dear friends,
I wanted to take a moment on this Sunday to acknowledge an important anniversary. Three years ago today, President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law, restoring the basic protections against pay discrimination for women and other workers.
Of course, the importance of this legislation cannot be overstated. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act reinforces the core American principle of equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender, race, or background. In 2010, I vowed to fight for equality in the workplace. As we celebrate the anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, I want to assure you that my commitment to that promise remains steadfast. I eagerly look forward to working with President Obama and congressional Democrats in our continued efforts toward equity for all people.
Sincerely,
Rep. Cedric Richmond
